
Studio Sadej "Art of Weaving" course and workshops
Weaving is a craft and art which can be learned in six to eight weeks (or six to eight days). The course of instruction in weaving can be incorporated in twenty four lessons - (each week (day) 2.5 hours - hands on lesson) and will be enough for everyone to become a fairly good weaver.
"Art of Weaving" classes will include:
* Introduction of hand weaving, warping frame, planning the design and simple weaving
* Weaving rules, handling warp and weft difficulties, finishing the first tapestry
* Raising surfaces technique - using Soumaks and other knots
* Smyrna or Ghiordes knot, pre-cut weft (the most used rug knot technique)
* Colour theory - basic weft blending technique
* Three dimensional tapestry, using additional warp and adopting all learned techniques to very own ideas.
Extra:
* Making the decorative pillow
* Weaving without a frame (on a board )- making a small gift bag, (using a needle)
* Floor loom patterns on frame, making table mat
Each lesson will include short lecture about weaving, history, important things to remember, words, names, etc. The supply fee will include frame, board, material for first project plus photocopies with all important information which students will get on every lesson.
Each lesson can be a separate workshop if requested.
